CURRENT NEWS:

FROST/FREEZE WARNINGThe forecast for Thursday/Friday is for possible freezing temperatures.  Now’s a good time to either harvest any produce you have or cover up the ones you want to keep.
GARDEN CLEANUPNow is also a good time to start to put your gardens to bed for the winter.  Remove all dead/diseased plants from your garden (please haul out diseased material, the compost pile is not the place for it).  Amend the soil with compost, leaves, etc. A layer of straw or leaves on top will go a long way to having nice workable soil in the spring.BOKASHISpeaking of compost, Bokashi processing ended last weekend.  You’ll have to wait until next year for that sweet, sweet bokashi.
WORK DAY REMINDER

This Saturday, October 14, from 9:00 to noon is a work day.  We’ll begin putting the garden to bed.  Projects include helping the donation team prepare their plot for winter, including removing the raised beds, and general clean up around the garden. If anyone has a truck or trailer to haul away large items, please let us know.GARLIC UPDATE

We had an amazing garlic crop this past year thanks to everyone who grew a row of garlic for the garden.  All of your hard work was turned into nearly $400 in garlic sales at the Harvest Sale.

If you are planning to plant again this year, the next couple of weeks will be an ideal time to get your garlic in the ground.  If you did not save any seed garlic from your crop, you can pick some up on the Work Day.

Straw has been ordered and help is needed to stack the bales off of the truck. Delivery should be next Wednesday or Thursday, late morning.  Exact time will be confirmed in the next day or so.  It usually takes less than an hour to unload the truck.

If you are available next week to help out, contact leadership@rosedalegarden.org

HARVEST SALE UPDATE
It was a blow-out!!!  Many thanks to Ana and her team, as well as everyone who donated produce, baked goods, jams, jellies, salsas, honey products, etc.  Total sales were an eye-popping $3500!!!  That may be a record.  The Bee Team really came through as well this year with honey and honey products contributing over $1500 of the total amount.
Many thanks to all involved.  Take a bow.
